This one is different by design.

Berryessa Beast Mode is something we’ve always wanted to do, push the pace, time ourselves, and see how efficiently we can get to the top. Think fast hike / light jog, moving with purpose, minimal stops, and personal accountability.

We’re not leading, pacing, or organizing this as a traditional Hike & Hit event. We’re simply showing up to challenge ourselves on a trail we love.

If others choose to join, they’re welcome to move at their own pace and on their own terms.

How It Works

  • Everyone starts when they start

  • Everyone moves at their own pace

  • No group pacing, no coaching, no sweep

That said, we will regroup at the summit (3.25 miles in) to catch our breath, share the view, and watch the sunset together before heading down.

The togetherness happens at the top, not on the climb.

What to Bring

Because this is effort-focused and late-day, preparation matters:

  • Trail shoes with solid traction

  • Water (hydration matters when pushing pace)

  • Light snacks or electrolytes

  • Headlamp or flashlight (return hike may be in low light)

  • Layers for cooling down at the top

  • A watch or tracking app if you want to time yourself

  • A small pack to keep hands free

Bring what you need to move efficiently, and safely.

Good to Know

  • This trail is steep and demanding. Know your limits

  • There is no formal check-in or support on trail

  • Everyone is responsible for themselves and their choices

  • The regroup point allows community without compromising individual effort
